First of all a big thank you for being signed up to our newsletter. In this first newsy newsletter, Jackie and I wanted to share our inspiration behind founding Rock & Ruddle in 2012.
Having both worked in beauty previously at L’Oreal, we really valued the aesthetics of our products alongside their equally important performance. It came to our attention that hairbrushes historically were available in very good quality options but the products looked dull and utilitarian. Our idea was to create a hairbrush that was as good as those of our best competitors in terms of caring for your hair and detangling without pulling, whilst at the same time offering really unique and exciting designs. We thought that as a hairbrush is an item that we reach out to use many times in a day that owning a hairbrush featuring a lovely design would be really uplifting and fun. Not only do our hairbrushes appeal for a self purchase but they also provide wonderful long lasting gifts for both family and friends, including the young and the young at heart. Over the years we have found that gifting is a huge part of our business. Every year we attend a Christmas fair in London called Spirit of Christmas where many customers visit to purchase hairbrushes and combs as sets for Christmas presents.
As additional inspiration, each of our management team has written a paragraph below on what is really important to us in our hair care routine alongside our love of our hairbrushes. Our Team's Haircare Tips

I am Alexandra, one of the Co-Founders and Directors. I really love our hairbrushes because I so dislike having my hair pulled. For some reason my hair is very sensitive at the roots. The reason we designed our hairbrushes to be in a traditional design with rubber pads is because they glide through your hair, detangling any knots and rendering your hair silky without pulling. We know this is a very popular feature of our brushes for children who also do not like having their hair pulled when being brushed. My hair is generally dry and so my hair care routine focusses on using a gentle shampoo and a moisturising conditioner and occasional hair oil applications. Our shower hairbrush is really excellent for spreading these products throughout my hair when I shower. Having entered my sixth decade, I occasionally apply colour to my hair to cover those little grey hairs that are appearing all too often. For this task I find my black Shower Power Brush really valuable as I can use it with colouring agents and it does not stain in anyway. The products below are the ones I use regularly and that I love best.

I am Jackie Ruddle the other Co founder and Director! I have long and thick hair which I colour to keep the greys away so it needs some TLC at home when washing and brushing as it can get a bit dry and tangly. Having worked at L’Oréal for years I have always used their haircare products as they have lots of good, qualitative brands and I like to experiment and change what I use from time to time.
My favourites at the moment are Kérastase Bain Ultra Violet and the Kérastase Cicaflash Conditioner which are great for blonde and coloured hair and I find that they help with the detangling too. I use the Rock & Ruddle Shower Power Brush in the shower to make sure that I get the product spread all the way through my hair, it works like magic and even after it has been towel dried it is easy to brush through. I use my mixed bristle Blue Tile designs hairbrush which I adore several times a day to ensure tidy and untangled hair.

My name is Shaya, and I am the Social Media & Influencer Marketing Manager at Rock & Ruddle. Here’s a peek into my hair care routine:
I start with a pre-wash oiling routine using a homemade mixture of oils, leaving it in for about an hour. For the first shampoo, I use the Briogeo Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-Exfoliating Shampoo to remove as much oil as possible. Then, I switch to the OUAI Thick Hair Shampoo and Conditioner for my main wash.
After showering, I apply OUAI Leave-In Conditioner and Briogeo Farewell Frizz Blow Dry Perfection and Heat Protectant Cream. I use my Rock & Ruddle brush to distribute these products evenly from root to tip while detangling my hair. Finally, I style my hair with the Dyson Airwrap and smooth it out using Kérastase Elixir Ultime Hair Oil L'Huile Originale and my Rock & Ruddle brush to finish.

Hi, my name is Fiona and I work with Rock & Ruddle helping with Customer Service and Administration.
My hair is very thick and has a tendency to frizz.
I am a bit ‘rush and go’ when it comes to washing my hair, but when I have time I would not be without my Philip Kingsley Elasticizer, this really helps with the frizz. I put this on about half an hour before I shower. I then wash my hair with Philip Kingsley Re-Moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. I use my Rock & Ruddle Black Beach Wave Comb to help smooth away the knots before drying.
I have a Babyliss Big Hair hot air styler that I have used instead of a hairdryer for many years now as I find it gives more volume.
I then use my (absolute favourite) Luxury Black Stardust Rock & Ruddle hairbrush to ensure all the natural oils have been distributed through my hair.
