Our winter survival tips for your hair!❄️⛄️

During these cold and windy months it is great to look after oneself not forgetting our hair! Please find below our Ten Top Hair Care Tips from Rock & Ruddle.

1. Make time for deep conditioning every time you wash your hair. Our Rock & Ruddle Shower Power Brush is brilliant to spread conditioner throughout your hair. If  you then wrap a warm towel around your head while it gets to work, it will feel like a lovely hug for your hair. Then wash out carefully,

2. Shampoo less frequently to avoid depleting moisture and to reduce the frequency of blow drying and heat-styling.

3. Use an oil treatment or commit to a hair mask each week. Choose a lightweight leave-in mask formula to revitalise dry, damaged hair. Apply nourishing hair oil at the ends daily to help replenish moisture and protect your hair.

3. Use heated styling tools with caution as they can cause damage whatever the time of year  and especially in winter when your hair may be more vulnerable to splitting and breaking.

4. Avoid washing your hair with very hot water as this may contribute to dry skin, scalp, and hair. So keep the shower temperature moderate, or just warm enough for comfort to preserve your natural oils (and keep the bathroom mirror less steamy).

5. Handle wet hair with care as when wet it is more elastic and fragile. Use our Shower Power Brush to detangle very gently or use one of our many choices of combs.

6. Avoid leaving the house with wet hair. Wet hair is more vulnerable to damage than dry hair. Walking outside in winter with a wet head can cause hair to freeze and break. While air drying is best, it is better to blow dry your hair on a cool setting rather than go outdoors before it is dry.

7. Use one of our Rock & Ruddle bristle hairbrushes to brush and style your hair each day. Our natural bristles absorb the oils produced in your scalp and spread the oils throughout your hair keeping it conditioned, silky and shiny and without any tangles. Another real bonus is that our hairbrushes do not pull your hair.  A very popular feature with our customers is that our bristle pads can be removed for a thorough clean.

 8. Wear a hat both to look great and to protect your hair from changing temperatures. A warm cashmere or woollen hat is ideal and a silk or satin lining can help reduce static while smoothing the cuticle rather than roughing it up. When wearing a hat choose  hair styles worn close to the head like tight ponytails, braids, twists, or low buns that won’t get crushed. In fact, for hair that tends toward wild and bushy, a hat can be a great way to contain it. You can also add texture by twisting hair and creating waves by coiling it. You can also use your hat to not only keep you warm but also to “set” hair while you wear it.
